Meet Jackie Varela, Counseling Clinician
Jackie Varela is a master's-level professional counseling clinician who serves as a bilingual therapist within the Behavioral Health Department at Roya Health with experience in the field for more than 10 years.
Jackie is a deeply compassionate advocate for mental health and healing. With a strong background in facilitating individual and group therapy. In her therapeutic practice Jackie has expertise in methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Training (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness.
Jackie specializes in providing therapy for individuals navigating challenges like anxiety, depression, PTSD, suicidal ideation, substance use, bipolar disorder, ADHD, etc. Her background includes working with diverse populations, from all ages, including individuals with serious mental illnesses to vulnerable community members facing complex challenges.
Jackie earned both her Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature from Arizona State University. She furthered her expertise by completing her master’s degree in professional counseling at Grand Canyon University.
Jackie’s focus is to foster mental health well-being and equipping individuals with valuable coping skills. Emphasizing healing as a transformative empowering journey by ensuring a safe, warm, and empathic environment. As well as finding resilience through the healing process with a focus on the solution.
